[New York, NY] – Clean Cashmere, a pioneer in sustainable and luxurious American cashmere is thrilled to announce its first feature in the Style section of the New York Times. This milestone is marked by a premiere collaboration with former fashion editor Melissa Ventosa Martin, founder of the company Old Stone Trade, debuting her latest collection, "Handmade in America," featuring an heirloom sweater made with Clean Cashmere’s PRIME cashmere yarn.
The feature in the Style Section of the New York Times highlights Ms. Ventosa Martin’s search for the nation's finest artisans to create “patriotic, heirloom-worthy” fashion. The exclusive piece crafted from Clean Cashmere’s undyed yarn, scoured and spun in the U.S., is a three-quarter sleeve, ribbed henley sweater by Maggie Koluch, a knitter based in New York. Each sweater is knit with 10 skeins of yarn which is fiber from approximately two cashmere goats. Cashmere goat fiber is a luxury, not only because it is harvested once a year, but for its versatility, next-to-skin softness, warmth, and breathability; an all-American and all-season capsule garment.
“We are incredibly honored to be featured in the New York Times and to partner with Melissa Ventosa Martin,” said Christine McBrearty-Hulse, co-founder of Clean Cashmere. Heidi Dickens, co-founder, added, “This collaboration represents a significant step in our company's journey to grow the American cashmere industry and bring high-quality, sustainable cashmere to designers.”
Ms. Ventosa Martin’s collection is inspired by a “classic” American uniform. Each garment is handcrafted with its own story and priced fairly to compensate the artisans for their time and craftsmanship. This model reflects Clean Cashmere’s commitment to providing a fair price for the farmers' hard work and dedication to growing the fiber.
Clean Cashmere certifies growers that follow guidelines ensuring animal welfare, quality graded fiber, and environmental standards. Our vision is to provide cashmere directly from herds throughout the United States who are healthy and graze sustainably. This collaboration with Ms. Ventosa Martin is a significant step in the company's journey towards bringing American cashmere to the forefront of the fashion industry.
The collection is now available for viewing in the latest issue of the Style Section in the New York Times .
